| | Discover ten good reasons why the SCR technology from Mercedes-Benz allows you to operate more efficiently – today and in the future. |
1. Tens of thousands of customers have already chosen it
We thank our customers for their confidence in our brand. And we can assure them that, in deciding on BlueTec®, they have chosen a technology which sets the standard, both today and in the future.
2. All manufacturers are using SCR for Euro 5
Other technical solutions allow compliance with Euro 4, but not Euro 5 – all manufacturers currently agree on this. Only SCR (selective catalytic reduction) allows compliance with the more stringent Euro 5 emissions standards. And it brings with it a whole series of benefits.
3. Payload comparable to viable competing solutions
The scope of the additional components and the extra weight associated with the technology are not significant. The main modifications required for BlueTec® are the just additional tank for AdBlue and the larger silencers.
4. Optimal, clean combustion
Our experience with EGR technology demonstrated that the poorer combustion led to a significant increase in fuel consumption. An optimised combustion process with higher cylinder firing pressures and injection pressures not only results in extremely low particulate emissions but also cuts fuel consumption by up to 6%.
5. Only BlueTec® offers long-term cost benefits
Now is the time to start thinking about the Euro 5 standard which comes into force in 2009. In fact, now is the time to do something about it, too. Make the right decision today, and you will start enjoying the benefits sooner than you might think. From October 2006, you qualify for more favourable toll charges, and you can look forward to a significantly higher resale value for your vehicle in the longer term. And it's worth remembering that you'll be saving on diesel consumption with every kilometre you cover in a BlueTec® truck, whether on toll roads or not.
6. Service intervals are the same for BlueTec® vehicles
Long service intervals make financial sense and are also the clearest sign of up-to-date truck technology. BlueTec® guarantees that you can continue to enjoy the customary long service intervals (up to 150,000 km depending on configuration) and the associated reduced downtime.
7. BlueTec® works with all brands of oil and fuel grades
You can continue to fill up your BlueTec® vehicle with your preferred diesel. And you can keep on using commercially available oils. Because BlueTec® does not place any restrictions on the diesel and oil grades which may be used.
8. On-Board Diagnostics already fitted
BlueTec® trucks are already fitted with an On-Board Diagnostics system, which monitors the operation of all components of the BlueTec® diesel system. So you can always rest assured that your vehicle is indeed operating in compliance with Euro 4 or Euro 5.
9. A wide range of engines is available with BlueTec®
Mercedes-Benz has a tradition of bringing its innovations to market quickly and with the best possible customer benefit. With two new output ratings now available, the BlueTec® range offers the right output for every application, from 120 to 600 hp.
10. AdBlue is available everywhere
AdBlue is currently available at more than 4,000 sales points throughout Europe. The network of AdBlue refilling stations is steadily expanding. AdBlue is also available in 10-litre cans from all Mercedes-Benz truck service stations. On top of this, cost-effective solutions for depot-based refuelling are available to suit all applications, ranging from small 100-litre containers to full-scale depot-based filling stations.
Over four years and a total distance covered of 600,000 km, you can save up to 9600 euros on fuel and also, in Germany, up to 4800 euros on toll charges compared with other Euro 4 solutions. As you can see, investing in BlueTec® really pays off.
