In a Formula 1 race, tenths of a second often decide over victory or defeat. And at track side, too, optimum timing is always crucial. In order to carry guests, officials and journalists quickly and comfortably, before, during and after the races, a total of 16 Mercedes-Benz Viano are used.
The famous Paddock Club, for instance, uses several of the comfortable and versatile MPVs to smoothly transport F1 VIP guests from the airport or hotel to the race track and back. And the representatives of the media also appreciate the Viano’s spaciousness and comfort: as “media shuttle” that carries journalists and their equipment from the media car park at the race track to the drivers’ camp and back. Or as “photographer shuttle” that drives the Formula 1 photographers to selected shooting points around the track.
Three of the Mercedes-Benz Vianos used at Formula 1 races have a particularly responsible job: as so-called extraction vehicles, while the race is on, they wait at different points around the track, their engine running, to swiftly take specially-trained rescue personnel and their equipment to where they’re needed in an emergency.
