The Sprinter Transfer pampers those aboard with handling dynamics and ride comfort on a par with a passenger car. It feels so simple and comfortable to drive and so compact that drivers especially quickly forget it's actually a commercial vehicle.
A refined chassis concept forms the technical platform for this. The tried-and-tested independent suspension used at the front wheels now features leaf springs made from glass-fibre-reinforced plastic (GRP). Not only are these springs lighter than conventional steel springs, they have greater stabilisation capabilities. Suspension of the weight-reduced, quieter-running rigid rear axle with hypoid gearing is the task of robust, longitudinal leaf springs tuned for outstanding ride comfort and sure roadholding. Noticeably superior damping of any rolling motion is just one feature of the new suspension set-up at the rear axle.
