For us, the ideal camper van drive system
has the power reserves to ensure supremely assured, relaxed driving. It is smooth and quiet, so that your rest and recuperation can begin as soon as you set off. It is economical on fuel because nobody has money to burn nowadays. And, of course, it displays a Mercedes star. After all, longevity, reliability and serviceability are all characteristics that you expect when it comes to a long-term investment such as a camper van.
The chassis units with a standard frame come with a choice of several powerplants, including three state-of-the-art 4-cylinder CDI diesel engines with piezo injectors, some of which feature two-stage turbocharging.
The flagship CDI engine is a powerful V6 unit that copes reliably with even the most demanding of tasks.
Meanwhile the new Sprinter NGT (Natural Gas Technology) offers an economically and ecologically sound combination of natural-gas and petrol drive: its innovative natural-gas drive system allows fuel cost savings of up to 50% compared to petrol and up to 30% compared to diesel. The range is rounded off perfectly by a sophisticated 4-cylinder petrol engine.
All engines are paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. The option of a 5-speed automatic transmission makes for relaxed driving and travelling.
The engine line-up above comes with a choice of two four-cylinder CDI diesel engines – 80 kW (109 hp) and 110 kW (150 hp) and the V6-CD engine with 184 hp. Like all the CDI engines, they are equipped with a diesel particulate filter as standard.
For chassis with four-cylinder CDI diesel engine and manual transmission, the convenient ECO-Start[1] engine start/stop system is available and you can use it to noticeably reduce fuel consumption, noise, and exhaust gas emissions.
