High performance with low consumption is available from the common-rail diesel engines of the A-Class. An outstanding example for this is the A 160 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY: its fuel consumption of 4.5–4.7 litres per 100 km (combined) is significantly below the 5-litre mark, and its emission figures of 118–125 g CO2 per 100 km are equally respectable. All the while its engine puts in an impressive show with additional excellent figures – 60 kW (82 hp) at a maximum torque of 180 Nm (200 Nm with AUTOTRONIC) at 1400 to 2600 rpm.
The A 180 CDI presents itself with 80 kW (109 hp) and 250 Nm at 1600 to 2600 rpm. With the 103 kW (140 hp) and the 300 Nm it delivers from 1600 to 3000 rpm (in conjunction with the AUTOTRONIC transmission, 280 Nm) the top-of-the-line A 200 CDI model will make you think of only one thing: the next pleasure trip.
