The C-Class is equipped as standard with a 6-speed manual transmission and integrated current fuel consumption indicator. With exceptionally short-throw gearshifting, this transmission makes it a pleasure to change gears (the C 250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY is equipped as standard with a 5-speed automatic transmission; the C 350, C 350 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY, C 63 AMG and 4MATIC models are equipped as standard with a 7G-TRONIC 7-speed automatic transmission). The 4-cylinder models also feature a gearshift recommendation function based on optimising consumption. The modified transmission ratio in the C 350 CDI was specially adapted to its high torque rating of 510 Nm.

How to shift gears faster? Let the car do it for you. The 5-speed automatic transmission is available as an option for all 4-cylinder models (standard with the C 250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY). It is a great judge of character and adapts to your personal driving style (sporty or comfortable). To shift up or down manually, simply nudge the selector lever to the right or left. The BlueEFFICIENCY petrol-engine models and optional automatic transmission also feature consumption-optimised overdrive characteristics.

The highlight of our transmission technology is standard in the C 350, C 350 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY, C 63 AMG and all the 4MATIC models – and optional for all other 6-cylinder models: the 7G-TRONIC 7-speed automatic transmission. Seven forward gears constantly provide optimum engine speed and deliver virtually imperceptible gear changes. When changing down, the 7G-TRONIC – unlike other automatic transmissions – delivers extra-fast mid-range sprints by skipping individual gears. By simply nudging the selector lever, you can also shift gears manually.
